Motor is coming out of my Buick tomorrow and will be stored as a backup/spair in case the new motor has an issue. What steps should be taken before throwing it in the corner for a year?

You could fog it, but fogging oil isn't nice to plugs. I'd just bag it if it's only going to sit for a year. Just shoot some wd40 in the cyl's next year before start up. Ideally it would be on a stand so you could lube and rotate it once a month or so.The Jimmy hat is off.

if it's gonna sit for aorund 6 months, change the oil before starting it again. if longer, same thing. if over a year i'd say put somehting in the cylinders. my car sits for about 6 months every winter and i all i do is change the oil in spring

I would coat everything in motor oil and spray with WD40. Wrap it tightly in a few backs. I turn the bitch once a month for her period.

I need to keep this motor for a spare, I do have some other parts you may be interested in though. I live by the Ford dealership. You have a PM.Originally posted by taank View Postthe buick 455 i'm looking for is going in my lesabre
