    Garage car dollies

I'm looking to get a set (4) of wheel dollies for storage so I can move my car around without starting it up. I've seen the dollies at Northern but I'm pretty sure I could weld up a set just as nice for a lot less money. I've also seen the jack dollies that don't require a floor jack for use. I'm just wondering if anyone has any recommendations and experience using any of these designs. Also, how easy is it to move the car with these.

I had the ones from menards that were like $30 a pair and had a big full caged 70's monte carlo on them and I could push the car around alone rather easily.

We have the ones where you use a floor jack to put the car on them. I've used them on the Trans Am, my Mustang, my brothers Camaro, etc. They are nice to have and provided that your garage floor isn't like most MN roads, they roll fairly easy as well.

Wait until they go on sale. You should be able to pick them up for around $40/pair

Thanks for the info everyone. I'll check out Menard's selection and keep an eye out for a Northern sale.

I have a set of the northern ones under my 69 galaxy... they work good on flat concrete, but they dont roll over anything else. with a car the size of a galaxy I found that the biggest problem is getting the wheels to turn around... when changing the direction. the fronts will turn around but the backs wont you go and turn the backs around and the front go back the other way..... talk about a pain to do by yourself. not bad at all with two people.

I've got a set from Car-Dolly.com. My brother bought a cheaper set and had problems. First, the wheels were hard to get to change direction and then they flatspotted which made his car hard to push in any direction. I bought the Car Dollies several years ago and they work really slick. I think they were well worth the extra money.

FWIW, the Northern dollys, which I have, come with steel wheels.
