    Driveshaft Removal Help

    trying to remove the drive shaft.... i have the tranny out so the slip yoke end is out but i cant get the other side off... I bolted off the 4 drive shaft bolts that connect to the rear end but it still wont come off....do i have to take off the ujoint?? cuz that will be a bitch.... do i need a special tool to take the u joint off??? please help!

    once you have the four bolts out at the rear end.....put a floor jack under the pumpkin and jack it up. Eventually it will create slack and let you drop the driveshaft under the pumpkin...once there you will be able to slide it out of the tranny.

        Yeah push the yoke back in towards the tranny, you went the wrong way


        Tech Tip-
        A smart idea would be to get a junkyard yoke and put it in, that way there isn't tranny fluid everywhere when you tip it around

          You guys dind't read. He has the tranny out.

          You could do I TRied's idea about the hammer. It's probably just rusted on the rear end.

              Spray it with some wd-40 and let it sit over night then try to knock it loose?

                Just did this.
                Spray with WD or Knock'er'Loose. Grab propane torch and heat the piss out of it. Spray again with WD or Knock'er'loose. (It will smoke and stink, but won't burn.) This cools it, and "wicks" the penetrant into the gaps. Then nail it with a hammer. It should come right off. (This trick works great on stuck bolts too, especially if you can hit just the bolt and cool it faster than the surrounding material.)

                  thanks for the advice.....didnt have a propane torch but i used a flat head screw driver and wedged it in with a hammer and pryed it off.....finally i got that off then 5 minutes later i was putting tranny mounts on my new tranny and there was a little rust on the tranny mounting hole threads so it was hard to tighted the mounts on the tranny....so i was tightening one side (very hard to tighten because of rust) and i herd a crack.... the whole part of the tranny where one of the mounting holes was located just snapped off.....im pissed and i dont know what to do....ill make a thread about this
