    Off idle stumble/ misfire

96 mustang 4.6 auto runs kinda of like its missing a cylinder or 2 hit the gas and it basically dies only mod i believe is a CAI any ideas i was kind of leaning towards MAF but just wondering if it could be something else not big on fuel injection thinking of purchasing it for a driver but dont want to get a bag of shit o and it has no strange engine noises. Thanks Brian

Its probably time for plugs, wires, and fuel filter. Id start with the simple stuff first.

In as much as I am no expert on the mod motors, I know two things...at least I think I do. One is that the plugs are a PIA from what I can gather and have probably never been done. Second is that the coils (one per cylinder) are prone to failure. Oh, guess I know 3 things...they are interchangeable between cylinders so if you start with the plug change and read the plugs you should be able to pinpoint the cylinder(s) in question, then play musical coils, etc as needed vs just ponying up for replacements and hoping for the best. Also, since that is OBDII you should pull codes and see..I would think a cyl misfire, etc would pop codes. Good luck and welcome to the 90's at least (I have advanced all the way to the 80's so far!)
