A few weeks ago i told you about my starting issues with just the key selected on, when i push in the clutch the starter cranks. I still have this problem. Ive read about some fuseable link that could be my problem? I keep thinking GROUNDING issues? I think i have checked everything but obviously not! I installed a mini starter along with a new engine install, followed the directions properly, but i am frustrated beyond limits now. I also noticed that I have power on both terminals to my coil? Could be related or not? Ground problems? Thanks.

Sounds like the key switch is fubar.. You have the battery going to the original spot on the (stock)solenoid, new (large) cable from same point to the starter, small (12 guage) on (stock) solenoid opposite side from the two large cables and the factory small wire to the side of the factory solenoid right. If so, when key is on it is energizing the feed wire via the clutch switch. Bad ign. switch

I am not sure how it works but do you have to push in the clutch to make the car start? If yes my guess is a wire got switch with the install and you are either feeding the starter current when you push the clutch in or completeing a ground. Sound to me like a wire was not installed correctly. I would take a break then recheck your wiring for clutch swith to selinoid and etc. good luck.

Is this on a fox body? Have done anything else lately besides the starter?
I'd start by pulling the plastic off the underside of the steering column and checking for voltage at the ignition switch connector. It a white wire with either a blue or pink tracer (I can't remember off the top of my head). You should only have power there with the key in the start position
If you have power there disconnect the connector and see if you still have power on the wire. If you don't have power with it disconnected then you have a bad ignition switch. If you still have power then I'd take a look underneath the car at the connectors at the transmission and the harness coming off the body to the transmission. Those can get pretty close to the exhaust and could have melted a couple of wires

That is the reason I think it is his switch is that in his other post he states that, when in RUN position clutch in it starts, but will not when in start position.

Got it, I went right to the wires that hook up to the reverse switch on the tranny, and sure enough, wires were chaffed together, repaired them and good to go! I never would have thought to check there for a starting problem! You rock svonasek! thank you all for the help!
