    Oil Pressure Questions...

At Normal Operating temp, what would a good pressure be for a 302 based motor?
    What would consists of Normal..

    How about under load/Normal driving?

Just curious... i have been beating the shit out of the motor in the II for the last 3 years and its holding up quite nicely... Or so i think...

50 lbs when cold @ idle
25 lbs when warm @ idle
50ish lbs when normal driving (2500 ish rpm, 5th gear on the freeway).

I Think this is good, but, i've blown my share of motors...

You're fine with those numbers. Pretty healthy. My old engine used to have 10psi @ idle when hot. It never blew up but after I twisted off the pump shaft, I built the new one. My new one shows 40 psi @ idle when the oil is @ 200 degrees. I imagine it will be down to 25 or so when I get the oil up to 260-280 degrees.
My couch pulls out but I don't.

Indeed - it sure would run a hell of alot better with a new accelerator pump! Can only get them in a rebuild kit - it just runs so damn good I kinda don't want to mess with it...

I wouldnt worry about it at all that sounds pretty good. I had a 302 with unknown miles that has about 10lbs warm at idle and like 40 lbs cold at idle. I pounded the shit out of that car and now my brother has that motor in his mustang
