Firewall adjuster install Q

I have all the equipment, adjuster, ford racing cable, quadrant.

Problem is I'm being a tard....

I've bugged a couple people over the phone but I don't know what to do about a couple of these things. Like remove the rubber part, is that rubber on the firewall part of the cable the part that has to come off? If so what about this plastic piece under it?



And where the quadrant mounts, the springs I assume should be removed. There seems to be some play with the quadrant, is that normal?

Ah, I decided to stop being a pussy and do what I "think" teh nazi was suggesting before and I believe the cable will slide through just fine now. The whole thing makes sense except for whether or not the quadrant should be able to slide back and forth a bit. I'm sure it's fine but I wanna make sure I don't mess anything up.

The white plastic collar on the end of the cable what you want to leave on there. The rubber on both sides of the metal mounting collar is what must be removed. A pair of pliers and/or a screwdriver should pry that off nicely.

It's a bit of a bitch if you get a well made cable and it seems like you are destroying it - but underneath all that nonsense is a smaller diameter section of that white plastic and it slides into the adjuster the way you have them in the pic.

It's the wifes, she will me interning in Costa Rica in October. I'll join her for a week towards the end of her stay.

I got the whole thing installed, I think correctly. No I just need to fine tune the whole thing. It feels very solid in comparison to the stock setup.

Well, I'll share something with you.

I usually have no idea what I'm doing. I just have a project that I either need or want to do and get the parts for it that I see other people recommending for similar projects. Everyone seemed to recommend the Ford racing cable so I picked one up. I got the firewall adjuster in a kit with the quadrant so I just put everything in.

Yeah it seemed to go in pretty easily after I stopped being a chicken. I adjusted it with the firewall part only. The whole thing feels very sturdy now. The stock one started feeling very slushy this summer so I'm glad I never got stuck out in the middle of nowhere.
This project took me two hours, I looked at a years worth of related threads here and elsewhere. Everyone one else in the world seems to be able to do it in under 30 minutes.

Until my next weekend mechanic project....... Next are these 3.73's starring at me.. But I'm not doing that myself.

The FWA/quadrant combo is so nice. My clutch always felt funny for a day after being at the track. After I installed my fiore parts the clutch felt great all the time.

I used a UPR setup, I purchased it last year before I read about Fiore. I drove all over the place tonight and it felt pretty nice.
