I moved the truck this morning, and it really does idle very rough while in gear. So I guess it doesn't seem like accessory stuff after all. I'll probably get a PCV valve for it today and see if that does the trick. Probably needs to be replaced anyways. The truck has over 145k on it, and has only had fluid changes.

Remove your oil fill cap and see if that changes the noise. If the vacuum on the PCV valve is causing it to buzz like that opening an alternative path for air flow should affect the noise.

Or just yank the PCV temporarily to see if it goes away

I'm going to replace the valve tomorrow. We'll see what happens.

Well, I replaced the valve and the noise went away. However, it still has a misfire and shakes pretty bad when accelerating. Could excess oil in the intake manifold from the bad PCV have fouled the plugs? I actually think they are the original spark plugs...150,000 miles on those bad boys.

You could try spraying some starting fluid around your intake if you still suspect cracked intake, if engine revs, you have a crack

would a bad PCV valve be causing a whine under HEAVY accelaration? My car makes a high pitch noise only under heavy accelaration not at idle.

That panda picture is Awesome! That needs to be in the lawlz thread!

The #8 coil was bad. Buffalo Ford replaced it...and said the spark plugs are still good to go. 150,000 miles and counting, bitches!
