I've been seeing anti freeze under the car once in a while below the water pump area. Do you think its possible the water pump is going out? The car runs fine and doesn't get hot even with the A/C. The car has 113k on it. How hard to replace Oriely's said it was 3 bolts.

i would say start by pressure washing ur motor then run the car and see if u can see exatly where the leak is coming from(from highest point) then if u do see it is the water pump just go buy a new gaskett u shouldent have to replace the pump if the blades in the pump are in good shape

Wrong. Waterpumps can have perfectly fine "blades" and leak, along with squeek.Originally posted by foxy ford View Posti would say start by pressure washing ur motor then run the car and see if u can see exatly where the leak is coming from(from highest point) then if u do see it is the water pump just go buy a new gaskett u shouldent have to replace the pump if the blades in the pump are in good shapegod damned tinypic.

Maybe I just do things screwy. Car has 113K on it and is 17 years old. Why in the world would you go through the trouble of removing the water pump, replacing the mounting gasket and NOT replace the pump with a new or remanned one?!!! Chances are the pump is bad anyway, but even if just a gasket (today)...why not spend the money and just replace it while torn apart?
The part cost is minimal and with the mileage and age on a part like that which is prone to wear and subject to replacement almost as a 'maintainance' item on an older car this is a no brainer to me. Personally, I don't like half-assing a repair and sure as hell don't like fixing shit twice. But I guess that is just me.
