If you can't clear a pop can you will catch man hole covers on the street form time to time.

    Ask me how I know.

My last street rod I built. The front bumper would just barley clear a pop can the front suspension cross member hung down about half a inch below the bumper. The bumper cleared a man hole cover that was sticking up in the road a bit. The cross member did not. I was doing 20-30mph. I came to a very fast stop!

if you cant put the front of your foot under the bumper, its a tad too low

I liked my cars nose on the ground, but I didn't like scrapeing the bottom on every RR tack/ speed bump. Also not being able to get a floor jack under it without people to lift up on the fenders sucks too. I wouldn't go too low. I raised mine just high enough that a jack could fit under the k member.
                  "Uh oh, that ain't good!"

3" actual ground clearance is boarderline. My first Z had 3" ground clearance and it was a bitch. Nothing worse than HAVING to go through potholes and hearing it scrape
