it may be worth fixing due to it being a PPI. It can be fixed it just takes time to find what part is fried. Look on there site and find dealers/repair shops.Im in Blaine letting some girl get 14" inches, i think she knows you....

I had a few amps repaired along time ago. I cant remember what those things are called at the heat sinks. Anyway if they all need to be replaced it could be expensive. Big amps have several of them. They were always the problems on my amps from grounding out the speaker outputs.

There called FET's, or MOSFET's.Originally posted by PipeSnake View PostI had a few amps repaired along time ago. I cant remember what those things are called at the heat sinks. Some times when a output shorts, it takes out the power supply with it. So now 2/3 of the amp is garbage. As long long as the board is'nt burnt up to bad it can be repaired.
I might be interested in buying it as is, or repairing it for you for a small fee. Or as least I can tell you if it's worth fixing or not.

FYI ppi is now and has been owned by Directed Electronics (dei) for some time now. if its an old school art series- they wont be able to fix it, and usually dont anymore.. there are no more parts for those amps being made and unless you get really lucky youre gonna be SOL... sometimes if ya talk really nice to the tech guys at DEI they will swap it for a new DEI amp though...
if youre looking for a good 5 channel to replace it with take a look at the memphis line.. good amps for the buck.
PS-- having no fuse on the power side doesnt stop an amp from blowing.. it only stops the car from burning down if the wire is shorted/pinched..if the amp is grounding on the speaker output side, it will be drawing more current trying to make power and that extra current draw is what blows the fuse, but it still wont protect the amp at all.. if you installed fuses on the speaker output side(1 fuse on pos, 1 on neg speaker output for each channel, that are rated for slightly higher than RMS of amp) that would stop the amp from shorting itself from a blown driver or grounded speaker lead.
