    Newbie questions.

I am new to the TC Stangs site and have not yet purchased a stang. I have owned 2 others in the past, an '86 and an '81, they were both a lot of fun but I have always had my eye on any stang from 1999-present. I am leaving for basic training on Jan. 30th and when I get back in Aug. I will be buying one again. Probaby an '01. I plan on some suspension, borla exhaust, headers, high flow cats, throttle body/plenum, CAI. and short shifter. Other than that it will be all stock. The only question have is where do I go from there? I'm not lookin to go all out right away but I would like to know where to start after those few minor mods. Probably somewhere in the $1-$2k range. Any suggestions?

Cats or Test pipes i really doesn't matter to me. I will most likely end up doing test pipes. I was just more or less saying a full header back exhaust.

supporting stuff first. down the road if you want lots of power, make sure your rear end, driveshaft, clutch tranny, etc can handle it. dont forget fuel system and ignition upgrades.

Thanks 289notch but I'm not looking on goin all out right away. As for everyone else, thanks for the replies and I hope they keep coming. Like I said, I am new to this stuff so any help counts. Also if anyone would be willing to be direct online support when I start then that would be greatly appreciated. So far I plan on an aggressive series borla cat back exhaust, BBK high flow off road X pipes, BBK High perf. 1-5/8" full length chrome headers, BBK fenderwell style CAI, and BBK O2 sensor eliminator kit. All of which I plan on getting from Brothers Performance. Any feedback on that stuff, Brothers Performance, or any other suggestions/arguments?

Most likely you'll be able to find one with most of it already done. Just think, an 01 is already 7 years old, and finding one that hasn't had anything done to it may be harder to find than one that has most basic mod's already done.

Been a while since I took a look at a Brothers catalog, but I remember them having a pretty big markup on the stuff they carried?

I'd maybe get in touch with TNT or MAS or some local shop or something, might get better pricing. 5 door could probably help you out with parts.

In reply to 1moretoy I'd rather be able to say I did everything from the ground up myself. It just a lot more rewarding to me than building off of someone elses start. I'll be patient and find one that's unmolested. I have already found many '00 '01 '02 GTs with 60k or less goin for like 8-10k. Also, what are some opinions on the Whipple SC? And thanks for the info stormwalker. I'll make sure to check out some local shops before I go buying parts online. Does anyone know any shops that would be willing to hook me up well if I make them my one stop shop for everything or a shop that might sponsor me?
