    1992 HONDA ACCORD HELP/OPINIONS

Someone gave me a 1992 Accord. It is in the typical "looks to be parked at a driving range" hail damage from Northfield but whatever.

    So

I guess it was idling parked and it just died and dumped all the coolant.

It is the water pump. Which in turn let the timing belt go.

    QUESTION IS!!

Do I need to plan on pulling the head off or should I just install a new water pump and timing belt and see if it runs ok.

    Thanks.

Hard to say, it is an interference engine so bent valves are a possibility. It wouldnt take much to pull the head and check for marks. Its a SOHC honduh, piece of cake.

Did you verify that the timing belt broke or are you assuming?

first see if the belt is broken then worry if you're gonna have to pull the head off. If you do it is very easy to pull the head off on those, like it was said earlier.

Ok thanks. You seem to be a nice guy, any chance I could just trade this custom dented honda for your TT fox??

Remove the two 10mm bolts on the top portion of the timing belt cover (at end of valve cover) and lift it...that will let you know if the belt has let go.

I'd love to but I already have an Accord and don't have room for another, so I'll have to pass...if some room opens up, I'll let you know

Awesome, it is at my buddy's house and the neighbor's snowplow dude pushed a giant snowbank behind/under it. Rear tires are off the ground.

We should have a 1992 Accord club.

basically what ^ said. but the SOHC f22 motor is harder to time than the DOHC honda motors. you have to time like 4 pulleys all at once

i would plan on pulling the head off just in case, seeing as how you dont know that the water pump is the extent of the damage
