    Auto tranny problem

Ok im not sure if this is a problem yet but i should ask your guys what i should do.

Ok this has been only happening just today so im not sure if this just a fluke but with auto trannys you need to be worried about everything. Today when i went to school i noticed my gears wernt shifting as stiff as they used to be. First and second shift slightly smoother now and second to third is about the same. But when over drive kicks in its like it never shifted, it shifts so smooth i think its slipping.

I know most people in normal cars want a smooth shift but with my car with its usuall hard shifts this is scaring me alot. Im not sure if i should bring it in to get it checked out or what. But i normally have hard notchy shifts and now it doesnt.

The tranny fluid is allmost a year old now so im going to go to my buddy work and get that changed tonight. Any feedback on this would help alot. All i need is another tranny to die on me.\

Also if i brought it in should i sugjest to have them tighten up the bands? and more information the tranny has about 20,000 miles on it now and its a b&m

Probably should check the line pressure under the hood. Might be set wrong. On the passenger side..

It is best to do that adjustment with the block or a line psi guage. you cannot adjust the bands in an aod without changing the servo rod length.

Ok dan i did exactly what it said to do and now it shifts without a feel. And overdrive slips into gear. I measured it all correctly and set it to the middle point.

Sounds like the OD might be burned up again... where did you get the tranny?

if its a B&M, why dont you ask them what to do, or tell them is slipping, im sure its got a warrenty, as long as you havent fugged with it.

this probably isnt it but i have a chip in my car and one day it was doing that and it was scting weard with the shifts like some would hit hard like chirp tires in 2nd and some times it would feel like it was sliping but then i took the chip out and cleaned the dust off and put it in and hasnt done it since summer.

Problem with that is that i bought the tranny over ebay. Yes i know your woundering why i got it on ebay. Well i was in high school and the last month of school and my car breaks down and i didnt want to wait to get it fixed before school was out so i bought a new one on ebay. Richfield transmission said the tranny was never used so i guess i have to go by there word.

                  IE, b&m's warrenty isnt transferable.

Im taking the car in tomarrow morning to get it checked on so i guess we will see what happens from here. If it is bad, im gonna get a new one from lentech so i know im buying quality.

Get ready to drop $3000 on the Lentech! Doesn't the mystic gay leader have an aod laying around in his garage?

well i was looking at the street terminator one. Costs $1850 or so not including converter and shipping so ya prolly $3000, im so screwed.

A t5 swap would be an idea, but them again it might not come as a surprise that i dont know how to drive a stick so learning on a mustang prolly wouldnt be the best idea. But its not out of the question. But id definatly would need someone to do it for me since i have no clue to anything stick related.

The mystic gay leader has eliminated most of his spare parts. And I wouldn't pony up that big on an AOD Kyle... Get that one fixed, will be cheaper. And check with B&M, they may have ideas for you at least.

Well b&m cant do much for me since i didnt buy it from them but from another person. Im gonna call them here soon also to see what they think.

Plus just went to richfield transmission and the guy there said that i had the tv cable set properly and the cable didnt look bad so its prolly something inside the tranny thats wrong but he couldnt say. Since i didnt see any metal in the pan when i did the tranny fluid change yesterday he said its prolly not a drastic failure but a slow progressive one.

He also told me that hes had several b&m trannys like mine come to his shop and he says the quality with them is shoty at best. The quality of the internal parts isnt good and they tend to after while start to slip like mine.

So he told me he could build me a race ready aod for $1500 with manual shift capability and a 3000rpm stall converter.

So what do you guys think i should do. It doesnt seem my tranny is quite dead yet but i think its on its way. The lentech one is extreamly expensive for me so i think thats out of the question now. These guys build race transmissions for alot of people around here so should i bite the bullet and have them build a new one for me or should i wait till its dead.

I know now im prolly not going to race my current tranny at the track again so that sucks. Dont want it to blow up while at the track so opinons please. Thanks
