Improper break in? Did you wash the rotors before installing them?

There usually a film on the rotor wipe down with alcohol or some kind of non greasy cleaner. Try and bleed brakes. I agree also with the possibility of improper break in

no need to bleed them unless you cracked the system open. Did you clean the grease off the rotors? Did you seat the pads. Shouldnt be a huge deal if they werent broke in correctly but it might be.

What do the rotors look like? Street pads are abrasion type brake pads. If the rotors are very smooth, you need to scuff them. This is why tech's will scuff rotors after turning them. Pads need a rough surface to get a good transfer of pad material onto the rotor.

have the rotors turned and scuffed, when apart take some sandpaper and lightly sand the pads before reinstalling

You should have gone and hit the brakes hard from about 70 and then let them cool and repeated this about 3 times. You need to get a few good heat cycles in them for proper bite.

www.denalitrucks.com check it out, lots of good info over there.

The 02-04 sierra denali and yukon denalis have a master cylinders that are too small. My truck is the same way.

pull the pads and rotors off, get the rotors turned and scuff the pads. Then seat them like racin repair says.

Does it seem like you have plenty of pressure (hard/firm pedal), but no bite??

Or does the pedal seem soft??

Do you know if you went with Semi-Metallic or Ceramic pads??

Before taking anything apart, do 2-3 heavy stops from 70 or so down to 15-20mph and let them cool after. Then try them and see if they are any different.

What I have noticed in many of the new Ceramic Pads, is they dont bite quite as well as a good ol semi-metalic in heavy vehicles. I installed some Ceramic Raybestos "QS" series pads on my 2500 4x4 Ram and it requires quite a bit more pedal pressure than it did with semi-metallic pads.

They dont throw the dust, but do require more pedal pressure.

I think turbo 302 has it. Pad material is the key to a better bite, especially if the truck is known for an undersized master cyl. Get the hd pads rated for towing-probably a semi metallic. They dust more, but it sucks worse to not have good brakes.
