    Presure regulator problem

Ok Well lately for about a week or so my car has started to run like crap. It idles really low at like 600rpm and when i get in the car after letting it sit for a hour or so when i put it in reverse the car starts but when it starts it doesn't do the normal high rev up then slowly go back down to normal. But it rather starts and doesn't do that but like the engine isn't getting any fuel, like starting the car and it instantly goes to idle.

Then when i put it in gear it bogs down almost like its getting starved and dies if i don't keep the gas up for the initial startup. ALso when im on my hill at work (car pointing down at a incline) it stalls there also but at normal lights it idles but really really low.

Now to the pressure regulator question, macs stang and i noticed when i turned the car off the fuel presure went right to 0 after being at operating temp. Normally it would stay at like 15psi or so after the car was off after being runned for awhile. Plus when i start it i have to turn the key twice to basically prime the car to start. Otherwise the car turns over a shitload to start.

Highway cruising seems normal. I think my bbk fuel regulator is taking a shit so any more input would be helpful.

Also i think my idle might be set too low so im going to bump that up tomorrow to see if it helps.

    maybe relearn the idle setting.

fuel problem sound like a pump going out.

think its the fuel pump. Im allmost sure its the stock one. But then why would the presure go right to 0 after the car is turned off? would the fuel pump be doing that? like the presure is going right though it back to the tank im guessing.

the pump may be letting fuel bleed back thru it.

i am almost positive it has a check ball to keep the feed line full when keyed up.

yo phool, u might wanna check out walboro, it may be cheaper, cuz when carl ordered his "bbk" one, all it was was a walboro, just like almost everything else "bbk"

Did you ever take the fuel filter into consideration? Maybe its plugged up? Just my .02, im not real familiar with EFI.

Fuel psi should not dorp to 0 after you shut the key off for a wile, pinch off or block off the return line and see if it still drops off. If it dosent drop off it is in the pump, if it still drops off then the problem is either a injector or the regulator. If it is an injector it will usually run bad when started be cause 1 cyl will have all of that fuel in it and misfire until cleaned out, to check the regulator you can pull the vacume hose off of it and see if it is leaking there, that is comon but they also just bleed back to the tank, those are some simple ways to check.

so your saying if it doesnt drop off after pinching the return line the the pump is bad? i thought it was the other way around.

I checked the vacuum hose and its not leaking from there. Presure right now with vacuum on is at 35psi.

Since i dont have a buddy with me right now to help with the fuel line one, how can i check to see if an injector is bad? wouldnt the computer pull a code if one was?

Its running so bad right now i allmost dont want to drive it. It has no power up high and idles like shit and surges again at idle. I think my car is about to blow up

Sell me the car the way it is I will come get it now. . what is the fuel psi when the car is running, that old of a car will not have injector faults, if you could do a power balance or scope check you could narrow down what cyl it is but there is now way to tell if it is and injector but let it sit and pull the plugs and see what one is wet, kinda sounds like a fuel pump what are the pressures with the key on and engine off and engine running with the vacume hooked up to the regulator and not hooked to the regulator, it is also possable you have a big ass vacume leak

                          haha funny, no way
But let me check the presures with the key on and stuff.

Ok, key on engine off psi = 5psi but it declines

vacuum off = 30psi but then sharply goes down to 5psi, with key off it goes to 0

Sounds like a fuel pump to me the psi should be about 30-35 key on engine off.
