    put a t-5 or t-56 in a 67 mustang?

Since I may be getting the chance to run my step-dad's car next year, I am thinking about making my car a little more dependable on the street. I was looking at either a t-5 or t-56. Just was wondering if anyone has made the conversion, or could give any tips since it would be a new project for me.

    Thanks

Plus they never wear out.

    I disagree.

T5! unless you want to "clearance" (read hit with a hammer or cut) your trans tunnel. I have done this conversion and if you pick up all the parts, it's a bolt in deal.

i've put a t56 in my car, but it was a bolt in deal. if i had to do it again, i'd do it in a heartbeat. if a T5 is a bolt in though, i'd go with that... they're a dime a dozen and not quite as bad as everyone makes em out to be...

about how much power can you put through a t-5? I'vee heard both good and bad things about them. I am going to go with a little different combination than i got now. But will still be putting over 420 HP at the motor.

Get a built one, either a G-force or a regular T5 that has been built for power.

I'm planning on putting 500+ through mine... eventually.

just remember there are a couple different t-5's out there. talk to the other guys and make sure you get the right one. theres a t-5 and a tremec 5 that also get called a t-5 I know this because a friend bought what he thought was the bullet proof and ended up with a poodle. Have fun slammin the gears.

                T56s are expensive.

Put a top-loader 4 spd in you'll never break it! far more reliable than a t-5 or 56.

420 hp at the crank with a good clutch and any sort of traction = the end for a t-5. call or contact tony at http://astroperformance.com/ and see what he recommends. they have a few different levels of t-5s for you.

I have a g-force and broke 3rd gear the same problem I was having with the stock t-5s and I put down 360whp and 375wtq.

                    maybe this 1!!!
