i was wondering, my check engine light will sporatically go off, is this because i have no exhaust ? or what else could be causing this ? anyt input would be appreciated.

do you still have the EGR Valve hooked up? If you do not than it could possibly be looking for it and not finding it.

It could be many different things. Is the car doing anything unusal when it is triggered?

There is still too many variables that could be causing it to pinpoint it from what you've said.

Anything else you can tell us about it before/while/ right after it happens?

i used to have a similar problem the check engine light would come on at about 1800 rpms then turn off... it did this CONSTANTLY... but when i changed my intake manifold and throtle body it stopped... but i put in all new idle air solenoids and egr valve and sensor...

            hmmm

it really isnt informing me of crap, i checked evertything over and nothing is loose, is there a plug i can pull to just make it so the light never comes on ? or would this not be a good idea ? its jsut so it stops bugging me.

My car used to do the same thing. I just took off the egr valve and cleaned out all the carbon with carb cleaner and it hasn't come on since.

1 where is the egr valve located, i've never heard of that

2 my car does the same thing, and ONLY if i've been driving at around 1800 - 2000 rpms consistantly for awhile, like highway driving. do you think a bad O2 sensor could be the cause of this, cuz i DO have a bad O2 sensor.

3 foxbox - why dont you just go have a autoshop check your codes for like 20 - 40 bux.... thats what i did.

Don't know a whole lot about this fuelie bs, but the code should be saved whether it's off or stays on, run an OBDII code scanner or whatever on it and see what it says, orr you can dick with the paper clip trick, could probably find the legend on the internet somewhere.

OKay, okay, okay. STOP GUESSING! The computer tells you what's wrong. All it takes is a little time and a paper clip for it to tell you what's going on...

Follow this procedure (not sure where the EEC-tester is located on a Mustang).

Now, get the code, AND THEN start worrying about how to fix it. Sounds to me like you may have an O2 sensor that's starting to go out... but that's a shot in the dark if we don't know what the computer think is wrong.

Go to Checker and borrow their code scanner and do it yourself. They might even do it for you if they're not busy. Don't dick around with guessing.
