Breaking in a motor on dyno?

I'm thinking about getting my '92 Mustang LX convertible's motor broken in on an engine dyno before I throw it in the car. If you aren't fully aware, I have built a '94 351w roller stroker (387ci) with forged internals, a BIG roller cam, Windsor Jr. heads, and a 750 cfm Edelbrock carb on top of an Edelbrock RPM ported intake.

I'm thinking that since the car is in various stages of rewiring, rebuilding, and other assorted messes, that I might want to break in the motor on the dyno first. What do you think of this idea and how much do you think it would end up costing me? Where should I go for it? RJR in White Bear Lake? R&R in Spring Lake Park?

Any KNOWLEDGABLE help here would be excellent.

    Thanks,
    Dan

Definitely run in your motor on a good dyno. Ron at R&R would be my only choice.

    Excellent work, top-shelf service.

Same goes for Gene Pierson at Performance Concepts.

Too bad he's booked until May.

Working with RJR now, we'll see if/when that works out.

Looking to get my car on the road before summer.

I would go to R&R forsure, there is a reason why ron is booked till may. I dont like new shops, they just kinda scare me, it takes someone who really knows what they are talking about befor I will trust them with my car (or motor in your case) I just walk away from some of these newer shops thinking that guy doesnt know WTF hes talking about, that is not a good feeling to have.

i'm just curious why you need your motor broke in on a dyno dan?
can't you just break it in when you're done with all your car shit? either way you can't drive it when til the car is done.
              enlighten me.

Just thought that if the thing leaked or what not I wouldn't have to pull the whole damned thing out AGAIN. Trust me, pulling a 351w out of a Fox body is NO fun task.

And it's peace of mind. That way I know the motor is done and ready to go without having to worry about the car itself being ready to go. Then I can work out the CAR's bugs with all the motor bugs worked out.

                Just asking guys, that's all...

The dyno is the way to go. I would definitely do it. Ron knows his crap. I've been to a couple dyno sessions up there. You get the carb tuned in, the rockers adjusted, plus you know what kind of power the motor is making. Best $200 you'll spend. Plus, I guarantee you will pick up power by adjusting timing and jetting.

And, you're right, if the thing does leak it's much easier to fix it!

Unfortunately R&R is booked until late April. I was hoping to be done sooner than that.
But I'll see if I can get on their cancellation list.

                    Thanks guys.

I know this is off topic, but when you have to pull the engine out, do you pull just the engine or the tranny with it? I pulled mine out yesterday with the tranny connected and with one guy running the cherry picker and me underneath the car holding the tail housing from bashing the firewall, it came out like nothing.

Just trying to help incase you have to do it again. Hopefully not though, cause it does suck.
