    5 lug fronts

I picked up spindles, rotors, calipers off a 95 mustang for my 79. The only problem I have is where the spindle bolts up to the struts, the newer spindle is narrower. Can I just shim it with washers or do I need to get 94+ struts?

    Best to get 87-newer struts.
    Don't ask, it's a midlife crises thing.

Shim it. Some struts come with shims just for this reason, old man.

Thats news to me. My 86 struts wouldn't bolt up, the holes were in slightly different spots and it was narrower. I had to get 87-93 struts.

Some of the struts like lakewood drag struts list themselves as 79-93, but they come with the shims to make the 79-86 spindles work. I have an 83, but used sn95 spindles. I had to use 4 washers per side (2 per bolt). Worked fine, but it was a pain to hold the washers in while I put the bolt through. Also I had to open up the top bolt holes on my struts, but everything I've read said I shouldn't have had to.

Thats how mine were. I just bought new 87 ones and they fit perfectly now. And it rides way better because the old struts were shot.

The bolt hole spacing on 79-86 struts is different than on the 87-93 struts(and spindles). Order ones for 87-93 cars just to be safe.

And from what I remember, the spindle is a little thinner on the 94+ like the other guys said so you will have to use a few spacers(washers).

You won't need shims if you use the 87-93. Should just bolt right on.

Oh yeah, if I was doing it again...sn95 balljoints (non-extended version), bump steer kit and caster/camber plates all at one time.
