    head gaskets

I have blown 2 sets of head gaskets on my 302 and I know the heads are good and the block is good. (not warped) I am just wondering if there is a better gasket that works well with forced induction. AKA 200 shot of giggle gas.

It's studded and I'm only running 28 degrees of timing.

28 degrees is too much for a 200 shot probably. oh and a 200 shot is a shitload of nos.

your choices would be 1) mls head gasket. keep in mind mls gaskets require a very flat and smooth finish on the heads and block. 2) back off the blow to a safer 150. if the car hasen't beed tuned on the juice that would be a good start. a lean condition would cause detination and cause a head gasket to go pop or with beter head gaskets to piston, bearing, rod, ect issues.

Yeah but it goes like hell, I'm thinking of getting a progressive controller and seeing if that helps. And finally hooking up my boost retard.

Are you running appropriate spark plugs?

Personally, I think you should look at other things because head gaskets work like fuses. If you put top of the line head gaskets in or Oring it.... you are going to break something much harder to fix i.e. rod or piston.... thats just me though....

28 degrees sounds high for that much...are they iron heads? What gaskets have you been using?

Cooked 3 plugs but never blew a HG
Pulled motor running and inspected heads and pistons looked good. Rings where toast and the valve seats took a beating but it was fun.
                          10.40's @ 126 with a AOD.

I would check the tune and A/F plus make sure you have enough fuel pump.
Mine was done on the big end and thats what killed 3 plugs.
Fine on the dyno but could handle the volume for a 10 second pass.
Also have you had the heads deck since you blew the HG or have you had the block check to see if its still flat.
                          Progress. Should be fun.
