    351w strokers

for those that have done it...... how much should I be planning to spend on a 351w base stroker by the time I'm done?

I look forward to the build but i need to figure out how much money I need to hide under the rug.

Thats too open ended.. You want a forged rotating assembly? good rod bolts. main studs? how good of a block, cheapo forged pistons or some good ones? plasma rings?

And thats just the bottom end... roller cam? heads?

          sorry that was pretty vague,

          motor capable of 500 hp
quality... not looking to spend everything but I know I don't want shit

I want a reliable motor, it won't be at the track (much) mostly a fun cruiser, no worries about swap parts as it's not going in a stang. have the block, bare and needs to be machined. fuel delivery will be carbs, most likely a dual setup, but I have already figured out that one. This is a street/strip motor, but like said before, mostly street.

I used a basic Coast HP 393 kit, which is stroker crank, stock 351 rods, and forged 302 slugs. Arp bolts throughout. Performaer RPM heads and cam package, holley fuel pump. I already had the carb and intake. Heddman coated shorty headers.

I cam in at just under $4000, with machine work. I figure maybe 450hp at the flywheel, on a good day. For 500hp flywheel, you will wanna probably go 408 and AFR heads, so figure about $1000 more.

                  I would say $5-6000k, ballpark...

WERD. And we have both been there and done that.

And I would just buy the 347 that is in the FOR SALE SECTION. Yo uwill spend more then the $5500 he is asking.

You should be able to do it for 5-6K. personally, I wouldn't do the 2 fours and also wouldnt spend close to the same $ for 61 less cubes. (aka331/347)

I agree dont do the dual 4's unless you want "that" look, ohterwise its a waste of money for the more expensive intake a second carb and linkage, if you do go with dual carbs add another 1k to 5-6k figure.

A stroker windsor will make more torque than that 347. I think that 347 is one helluva deal though. The nice thing is that you can pull your motor and drop this one in. If you're looking for the extra torque do the 351 based but I would at least consider the 347.
