    Amsoil Tranny Fluid Question

My 02 F350 has Amsoil tranny fluid that was put in at 50K, now it has 89K.

Does anyone know when should I change it per Amsoil's recommendations and do I have to put Amsoil back in, is there any known problems with going back to standard fluid from Amsoil?

Any past experience or knowledge appreciated.

    Thanks, Aaron

Well, that really depends. Although the AMSOIL tends to hold up better, no fluid will hold up in a slipping transmission.

Have you checked the fluid lately? Is it still red? You can also get it tested to see how it's life cycle is doing.

Bullshit. My old man had an Aerostar van back in the day. He took it to the dealer and they put some snake oil shit in it and it was fine for another 50000 before he traded it in. To this day I dont know what the fuck they used but I shit you not it worked.

Who said anything about a slipping tranny? That was not the question.

Mine had amsoil in it. It is a 2001 F-150 supercrew. I bought the truck with 70,000 miles on it. At 100,000 I dropped the pan and drained the converter. I only towed my car 3-4 times with it and one time I did tow with it in over-drive (the first time, not the last 3 ), but if I knew that's how clean all the fluid was going to come out I would have waited another 15,000 miles. Thanks Dan, I really have no preferance, but my local expert isn't a fan of the Amsoil and I guess I am the type to change it more often rather than buy the $$ stuff and change it less.
