I have a 97 also with a full steeda g-trac suspension and the car drives/feels 100% better. Not the best for drag racing, not the best for auto-crossing, but a good in between in my opinion. What I liked about the kit was that I bought each stage (3 stages) when I had the money. It's just one of the many routes you can go with.
As far as mods, look at the sticky up top "HOW DO I MAKE MY 4.6 FASTER NA". There's a lot of good info in there to get you started.
Welcome to TCS.

One word- Stickers
This is the one mod that most people for get about and it is the cheapest way to bump-up performance and power. NO2 stickers are good for about 20-25 RWHP alone. Add a Jeg's or Summitt sticker for all-around handling and performance. After that, you are good to go!!! Sorry to hi-jack your thread. I'll stop now. In all seriousness, check out the section the guys that commented before me referred to. Do your research and post on the forum for people's opinions on the specific gear that you are looking at. A lot of the guys on here really know their stuff. PM people with cars that are similar to what you want your car to be like and see what their opinions are of the different items and to see if they have any suggestions.

for suspension stuff i would focus on lowering springs and some quality shocks and struts. then i would get some quality rear upper and lower control arms with 3 piece bushings. pair that up with some decent performance tires and you'll love how your car handles.

PI headswap, gears, stickies, and your choice of noisemaking exhaust. then get it tuned and enjoy it
