I think 5,000 is the limit. I could be wrong though.

Here is an article from Hot Rod. 800lb payload and 5,000lb tow capacity. In 01 anyway.

Don't go over the tongue weight, beat on it, and make sure your trailer brakes are set right.

thats why god created diesel. you should be fine. hell a buddy of mine pulls the exact same thing as you with a 1991 GMC 1500 with a 305 2wd and a bad tranny back and forth from pine city

Many many many. Lightning guys tow thier race cars with thier trucks, at over 7k pounds.....Just dont push accell too hard, or breaks.
