1.8L '93 Escort stumbles coming off of idle under load

When I accelerate in my escort it stumbles badly, usually putting the car into a lurching motion. It also barely idles after it gets past cold start mode. I have messed with the idle air bleed screw but it makes no difference, it still barely idles and sometimes dies if I let it idle for too long. Once I get out of first gear and moving a bit, it seems to run flawlessly. If I rev it to around 4k+ rpms and slowly let the clutch out keeping the rpms very high it barely stumbles at all. If I let the clutch out slowly and keep the revs at about 2500 rpm you can hear the car losing power.

It won't stumble just reving it in neutral.

Any ideas? This has gotten worse and worse, it started with just a slightly low idle.

Mine ran like a pile of shit and all I had to do was replace the coil pack. It was only $20 and junk yard and Now I'm back spinning the tires with <100 HP.

like he said ^. How are plugs, wires.

There is no port to check it. But I will look into it, I was thinking FPR maybe.

fpr will cause long crank times, but normal operation aftyer that, and a qucik way to chekc those is pull the vacumm line off of it and if thats wet with fuel replace it

I was thinking the IAC....but fucking napa wants 600 bucks for one and auto zone wants 320.

It's not the IAC causing that problem. Is it throwing a code? Unplug the map sensor and see if anything changes.

Go check the inlet air tube between the throttle body and the Mass Air flow sensor. Look at it really close and you will find some cracks in it. Usually on the back side. Temporally tape up all the holes with a wide tape like Duct. Then try driving it. Let me know if this fixes it. You might have to remove the tube to find the leaks.

Thanks everyone. It turned out to be the intake tube. The flex part had cracked in two spots and when the motor twisted a bit in the (shitty ass) motor mounts it would create a leak. Now I just have to find a new one of those lol.
