    Clicky clutch and clunky axle??

This clutch issue started happening to me in FL, then it stopped, now its doing it again. Car is a stock 99 GT.

I can feel (and hear) a 'click' whan I depress my clutch. Doesn't do it all the time, just most of the time. Happens when I push the clutch ~2/3 of the way down. Sounds almost like a spring?? Sound comes from underneath the car (as far as I can tell). Gear selection (neutral included) and engine on/off doesn't matter. I can feel it in the clutch pedal. What could this be? I've pulled the clutch up with my foot to see if it's an adjuster deal. Is this terminal?

Also, it seems like I have a lot of driveline slop. Not sure if its U-joint or rearend-related. I've heard that a lot of the factory rearend setups were pretty loose. Any truth to this? Rearend clunks occasionally when the slack is taken up. Annoying and probably hard on the car. No vibration issues.

    Any help would be gooooooood,
    Kris

typically i'd think it would be an issue with the factory adjuster, but since you say it sounds from underneath, it could be something with your throwout bearing binding, or your clutch fork. on a side note, i think it's good advice for anyone to replace their factory clutch adjuster with an aftermarket one (at least on foxes, not sure if the newer ones are just as wimpy... plastic!)
anyway, if it's happening all the time, it should be easy. just crawl under there and have someone push the clutch and find where the noise is coming from.
casey may know of a common noise with these since he works for ford, i think mach1 used to work for ford too?
same with the rearend, get under there and turn the driveshaft, listen where the clunking is coming from...
sorry for being of no real help, it could be a couple things.

The click your hearing could be the release bearing hanging up on the trans housing, or a damaged pressure plate, id have to get under it to hear.

As far as the driveline slop. Its probably not nearly as bad as you think. You gotta realize that with a manual you have the backlash from the diff, aswell as from the gears in the transmission.
