I would replace the multi funtion switch on the column. Common ford problem.
The power for the lights and the turn singals and the highbeams all go through the multifuntion switch.
    Progress. Should be fun.

Take the plastic cover off the column. This is possible with out removing the wheel. Then remove the multi fuction switch and replace with new one.
      Simple.
      Progress. Should be fun.

i would say before you go shotguning parts at it to fix the problem, i would pull the dash apart and get at the headlight switch, if its similar to the ones that are in 94-04 stangs after time the plastic part which contains all the wires on the back of the switch will melt and cause issues, i had this issue on my 95 stang, whole back of the switch was melted, replaced the switch everything worked like brand new, just make sure you check out every angle before you drop 70 on a multifunction switch

90% it's the multi function switch, Paul. Like someone said, it's a real common problem.
                  In either case, good luck,bud.

Had the same problem on my 94 Mustang GT. I bought a repair harness for a 93 F-150 and soldered it in and everything worked fine after that. Didn't even have to replace the light switch.
