    Nitto 555's?

Anyone tried these tires yet? Opinions?

I blew one of my Goodyears out this weekend, and at $210.00 per tire, I can get 4 of the Nitto's for the price of 2 gatorbacks

    Thanks in advance...

I have them. They perform well, look nice, are are priced decently, especially in comparison to some other brands.

NITTO 555 is a very nice handling tire, ......

.....but very poor for drag racing. NITTO makes a 555r (drag tire) and then another 555R2 that is specifically made for road racing. The standard 555 will last a good long time, but will spin heavily b4 traction is made on launch. I will be replacing my 555's (with something else) as soon as they're worn out, as I now have to use a drag radial if I'm going to drag race.
Again, handling is very good at higher speeds, but they're maybe a little hard for low speed traction.

Then you'll be happy with them.

The 555R (drag radial) will be a very good tire for your power level.

I ran a 1.8 60ft on just the street Nittoes. 275/40/17. Decent all around tire. Extreme Drag if you plan on going to the track.

don't get the drag radials. you'll be giving up alot of handling for just a little gain in straight line. only if you like that slushbox feel

I have the regular 555's on my EVO. I was expecting them to stick better that they do. I have some super cheap Kumho 712's on my Talon and i think they hook up just as well as the 555's.

I would keep looking around if you want a high traction tire. I have heard lots of good things about the Falcon 615's, and they are probably cheaper than the 555's. I just happen to know Sears has some really low prices on the 615's ($128 for a 225/45/17). I almost bought some this last weekend, untill the wife decided we needed new furniture .

If you want drag radials ignore all this

I guess I never had that problem...and I had the 555R's on my car 2 summers.

i run 275 40 -18 on my thunderbird and there ok, i suppose i also have them on my steeda fair tire i suppose, but i'm used to the goodyear f-1's (thunderbird) and the potenza s-03's ( mustang, svo, regal) i personally think they dony hook for shit, but i do like my terra grappler truck tires on my 4X4 not that is a comparsion by any means

I had the 555s on my Cobra Rs and I was impressed with them and how they even performed on the street & track. The life of them doesn't last long but they are a pretty good street tire.
