    Torque converter questions

I have an '87 GT with an AOD. It has 3.73 gears. It is mainly a street car but it does make the occasional trip to the local strip. I am going to be getting the AOD rebuilt and need some advise on a good torque converter to go with. Brand? Stall speed?

    Thanks.

Need to know more about combo to give you a good idea on torque converter but I would highly recommend Art Carr. I picked up .3 and 4 mph after putting theirs in! Nick

Stock engine, 80hp dry shot of nitrous, will have long tubes, h-pipe and exhaust when the transmission & torque converter get put in, Accel distributor, Kirban adjustible fuel pressure regulator, 3.73's... so pretty basic and it will probably not greatly change from that setup anytime soon. Overall in the future it'll probably never have more then about 325 rear wheel hp at any time.
Mainly a street car, but like I said... I do like to take it to the strip occasionally.
I checked out the Art Carr site and sent them an email regarding this as well.

Art Carr should be able to give you a good recommendation but I'd say in the 2300-2500 rpm range. Nick

Edge racing converters for sure if you want anything decent. I have one of there 3300 stall converters and works perfectly. They are built to order so they are not cookie cutter by any means.

A lot of Tbird guys sear up and down against them. Apparently they have had nothing but problems.
