  • What's faster?

I'm thinking of trading in the 'stang for a Fusion. Mostly because the Fusion has a more efficient engine, 6 speed auto, more room for friends, better mileage, etc. Although it completely lacks the coolness factor.

But the one thing I'm wondering:
My car came stock 193hp 225tq
    Fusion has 220hp 205tq

Let's say all things equal (and I think the Fusion weighs as much as the Mustang), regardless of transmission, will the Fusion or the Mustang be faster? I reckon the Fusion, with 30 more hp and just 20 less tq will be slightly faster, but I don't know anything about hp/tq ratios.

I've seen some nice looking fusions, some aufly bland ones too. Eventually that engine is going into the Stangs so there will be mods for it fairly soon. But if you have a v6 stang, why bother? The fusion will be close in acceleration, probably handle better, more spacious, and has better fuel effeciency. If you had a gt I'd say stick wit the Stang.

Naw it's a V6 mustang. I love the car to death and had a lot of plans for it. But this is Minnesota. I need something that's good in snow. I work 48 miles from work, so mileage is a plus. Mustangs, even V6 models, are 2x more expnsive to insure than a Focus (and I assume a Fusion as well), so I'd save money on onsurance too. Overall, I'd rather have a Fusion just for the utility factor vs. the Mustang. Acceleration does look about the same, and as far as Mustangs go, mine's the slowest you could buy (V6 with 4 speed auto). I think mine does 0-60 in like 8s which SUCKS, and the Fusion is 7.5s.

So you say they're replacing a SOHC 4.0L V6 with 210hp and like 250tq, with a 3L V6 with less torque? Doesn't make any sense to me. A Mustang needs a big motor to be a Mustang! I'd lose my respect for Ford if they put a Mazda 3L in a 'stang.

              the new v6

this is the one I was talking about. It is only in the lamest ford vehicals ever at the moment but it is supposed to be put in the v6 stang, fuzion, and others like that. And I meant the fuzion when I said that, not the stang.

And it's not a mazda engine, not that it matters anyway.

Seriously it's yours if you want it. Trade-in is about 9 or 10k, I'll let it go for 13. Interior is perfect, has a Python alarm system, Magnaflows, upgraded 3-way speakers all around (I'll be re-installing the stock stereo though), new rotors (upgraded ones, not the stock shit). Oh and it's black with spoiler and hood-scoop. One of the hottest cars I've seen.

BTW yeah I can't afford to keep both It's one or the other.

2004 V6 coupe I might be trading it in today though! And I don't have a camera. How far away from White Bear Lake, or Lindstrom do you live?

I drove rwd for 5+yrs when I first started driving, I'd honestly rather drive it again....

If you are truly concerned about milage, get a VW TDI or another econo box.

                        Fusions are fugly IMO.

We looked at the v6 fusion.. it came with a CVT no gears no fun... so we bought a Grand marq... But if you are looking for the comfort of an overstretched next gen focus then thats the car for you... don't bother with the I4 5spd. But it is an overall nimble car but you will feel every bump in the road after 25k miles.

milage isnt going to be that much different between a fusion or a stang, the fusion gets 28 mile highway, and the stang gets like 24-25ish, although the fusion will be faster due to the 6 spd auto trans. and fusions are cool espceially if you get black and get some like 18in chrome rims, i buddy of mine has one and it looks sweet!!!!

I bought the Fusion SEL and love it! Of course, who doesn't love a new car, right? 3-5mpg is a lot BTW, and the Mustang regularily got more than the posted MPG on the window sticker, so I'm expecting around 30 since I drive 100 miles a day on the freeway Mine came with the 6spd transmission, and CVT is not an option on the Fusion. The 500 has the CVT though, maybe that's what you drove? I don't think the Fusion is FUGLY either, I think it's hawt! I love the style. The features on the Fusion are way better than anything on my old car, which was a nice touch. With the Mustang, I didn't have ABS, only front air bags (now I have front, side, and curtain airbags), didn't have the Personal Safety System (do now though), was 1-wheel drive (easily fixed), and had a small interior. I have friends and family members, and yeah the huge back seats are sweet. Great road-trip car. And about feeling every bump...well you feel that with sports cars even the mustang And cuz I have the SEL, I got the 17" wheels which look nice. Anyway, so far I have no regrets selling the 'stang, only that it doesn't have the 'coolness' factor anymore. But 8 speakers certainly beats out 4 speakers, and the trunk is at least 3x bigger and that accomodates my huge subwoofer nicely, with room for groceries =) Overall the car is a lot higher quality than the '04 V6 mustang in pretty much every way. The 'stang just felt cheaper, like you paid for the name. It's been using the same stuff since the 90's! My aunt has a 95 GT and there's virtually no difference in craftsmanship, quality, and technology. I still loved the mustang because of its upgradability, looks, and the history, but functionally, it doesn't beat the Fusion. All I need to do now is install my new stereo, all 8 speakers are going to be upgraded, and the Subwoofer. I can't wait to hear what that's going to sound like lol.
