Mitsubishi Montero Questions...

as my search for a hunting vehicle continues... I have located a 92 mitsu montero. 3.0l 5 speed. Sounds like it needs a throwout bearing. However, since I am no transmission expert, I have a couple of questions...

1. When the clutch is pressed, there is no noise. while driving at lower RPMs or sitting at a stoplight in neutral with the clutch out, it squeals. Is that the throwout bearing?

2. When giving it more than half throttle, it surges a bit. Would the throwout bearing cause that, or is that some other problem?

3. I can buy a throwout bearing for 40 bucks. While I'm down there, should I replace the clutch/pilot bearing, etc. or will I be alright just replacing the throwout bearing?

I can look at the ads at work for ya, not sure if you are willing to drive, someone had a bronco in there with 33's and I think the 300-6 in it...its almost that time of the year again for people to move junk.

JUST AN fyi ... used to sell mitsu parts... Those trucks if they werent mainttianed will just fall apart... worse than most...

i see monteros are crap That idea is shot down as well. But yes, I need a winter beater for <600 bucks about. Would like 4x4. theres my problem I think.

I would think the throw out bearing would squeal when the pedal is depressed since that is when you have the loadon it. Maybe I am wrong though

My old s10 had a worn out pilot bushing that squeaked when the clutch pedal was out.
