    stand alone efi

Just wondering what some of you are using and if you like it or not.
I dont want any, "I got a buddy" or " insert magazine name here said that such and such brand is good." I would really like some first hand knowledge.

I've been running an AEM EMS this year and I can't be happier. I did have an issue with the AEM not liking my MSD distributor though (which is common). Other than that I have it driving better now with awesome driveablity. The only negative feed back that I have is that there is a huge learning curve (but it was easier than I expected)...as there is with any standalone, and that it probably costs more than the Megasquirt. I haven't used anything else so I have nothing to compare to.

AEM is a piggy back correct?

The reason I am wondering about standalone is for the big block. There are some people running eec setup with pretty good luck. I'm just wondering my other options

AEM is a complete standalone system Cory. We have discussed his, c'mon now

Like I said before, call Shane or Dan at 763-428-9882. That is the number for DB Performance and I am positive they could answer your questions. Remember, Shane goes by Ecoli on here, not sure how often he is on though anymore but he is very good with the AEM EMS.

I dont know how much Hi Tech gets into standalone but I wouldnt doubt if they could help too.

I am glad you are looking into this though, it would really be benificial in the end.

its kinda hard to tell ya it kinda like a 3D cat and mouse game that you log and then move the data to where it should be to rough it in .

                    I'm running the GM 749 Computer as a stand-alone. It's easy to chip, speed-density, 3-bar, and super-cheap.

My entire fuel injection system is costing less than a head-unit for AEM.
                    255 lph fuel pump - $150
                    75 lbs/hr Injectors - $250
GM 749 Computer - $40 (round to $50 for easier math)
The stuff to tune it (available from Moates.net) - $150

$600 and that includes chips, software, injectors, a fuel pump, EVERYTHING. I made my own harness out of stuff I had in the garage so that was $FREE.99.
