Not sure about v8 cars but on the DSMs you generally retorque after a heat cycle or two.

I assume the block and heads were machined?

people have had them leak and from what i read on another site it is recommended that you put 1-2 coats of copper spray on them to help them seal

Yes, another thing that works well in DSM land. Permatex FTW.

The copper ones should do the trick though. DO you have to get your heads or block o-ringed though? Most copper gaskets require that.

No these have the o ring built into the gasket, and the reason his cometics leak is because the heads and block were not RA prepped or whatever.

The RA on the head or block is important but there is a huge range of acceptable numbers. I dont think that is the issue.

Almost any surface grinder or fly cutter will be sufficient if the machinest knows what he/she is doing.

it was sealing for the most part but the was on spot inbetween 4 and 6 that had a coolent trail. and it only did it when it was hot. im droping off the head today to get checked if its flat.

I'm running the cometics as well with no issues. I put them on dry and haven't had any leaks.
