    I've been told...

The best bang for the buck for improving a fox-bod is gears and subframes.
I was told those are the first things to do.

    Opinions? Comments?

(I want to change my gears to 3.55:1, as I drive the freeways alot and don't wanna listen to my motor screaming @ 75mph)

Subs should be easy - I have a friend w/ a wire feed who's good.

    Am I missing anything?

I felt the best bang for the buck was gears but I went from 2.73's to 3.73's. It felt like a totally different car. Subframes will stiffen up the chassis nicely. Nick

3.73's are fine for the street.

            Even on the freeway, kickass?

Kinda did the math on this. I have the fact option 3.08:1 gears now. If I went to 3.55's I'd be up around 600rpm @ 70mph.

Like I said, I spend some time on freeways, and don't wanna listen to a screaming five-oh the whole time.

But I do wanna be quick...

Can't I have my college girl and eat her too? :-0

Decide what you want to do with your car first. If you travel 70 mph often, and want gas mileage, keep your stock gears. If you want to gain performance, do not do anything lower than 3.73 IMO. My brother did the same thing you are about to do...and comparing his gears to mine, I have no idea why you would want 3.55's (unless you have an extreme setup and need more gear for MPH in the quarter). My mustang rarely sees anything more than 55-60 mph on the street.

Here is a chart for you.
3.55 and 3.73 are so close. If I were to do it over, I would have bought 3.73's over the 3.55's.

i'd say gears are the best bang for the buck, i also went from 2.73 to 3.73 and it truly is like a new car all over again. very fun.
subframes connectors are cool, and inexpensive if your buddy has a welder, but i'd do other stuff 1st.

                      Just my unpopular thoughts...

Step 0: Get all of the quirks out of the stock stuff first. Good tires, good shocks/struts, good rubber in all the right places, etc.

                      Step 1: Gears.

I'd caution against doing SFC's on jack stands in your garage. If you're going to do them, try to get onto a 4-post lift or use level-wheels stands. Trying to use the jack-stands method will leave you with a car that's welded into a poor shape.

                        Thanx guys.
I did know about not doing SFC w/ jack stands, and the car has to be flat and true.
                        Appreciate the chart, outrun.
There really isn't much difference between 3.55 and 3.73...

A lot of people wish they went with 3.73's after they got used to their 3.55's. Just do 3.73's and be done with it!

Anyone know a good place to get that done?

My LS is pretty tired too. Would new parts for it help, or is aftermarket the only way to improve posi? I had an 85 capri that had a real tight LS and would not just spin the right tire unless I tromped it hard while turning right at a light or something... There was less power in that old motor, though...

My stang almost feels like one-wheel wonder right now!
