What would be the difference between a

Stang 302
F 150
Crown Vic
Thunderbird

I know the trucks have a week crank. Do they have the explorer heads (p) or whatever? Would any of these be a good performance motor with a budget rebuild?

All of the above in a 1993 version. What years would be more desirable? There are some of each available at the junk yards and I was wondering if they are worth rebuilding.

1987-92 mustang would be the best. it has a roller cam and forged pistons. it also has a better intake but that would probably be replaced anyway.
they all have the same heads, which aren't good ones.

Non HOs have no valve reliefs in the pistons, crappier heads and intake.

93s and up (and some 92s) have hypers

no the explorer is all different. it has the gt40p heads, and it's own intake.

non-HO's don't have crappier heads. my 1990 302 truck motor has E7's. it wasn't a HO, non-HO thing, it was more of a model year difference i believe.

not tryin to highjack the thread, but whats the difference between a '93 mustang spec 5.0 and a 93 tbird spec 5.0 other than the intake?? also, could i use the mass air setup in my 87 gt?? jw...

Anyways, Ford has always been a penny pinching company. I can assure you that the 87 non HO was only the same by block, crank and maybe rods. They saved some junk to use on the non performance cars even after they released those badassed E7 truck heads. (Yes, they were truck heads.)

Ford continued this non HO thing until 1990. In 1991 they had HOs in Tbirds and the like. Was it because they were wanting more performance? They simply ran out of garbage motors and used what they had available!

No difference other than the intake. Yes your mass air can be used

Is it an A9P? If so yes, it will still work on a 5 speed
