    Longtube Qs

Thinking of getting some, this year or next at the latest. I Wanted peoples opinions on if they have had any luck or dislike of ceramic coated or brand preferences. I guess I prefer stainless, but price is a factor too. Just looking for some thoughts to help me in my search. Thanks

    I disagree.

Get them uncoated. Then go up to New Image in Lino Lakes and have them put their ceramic coat them. EVERY Jet Hot coated header I've seen has had problems.

how much do they charge for that? i've always wondered if the difference in price of coated headers is worth it from them or if you just get the uncoated ones and get them coated somewhere would be worth it.

Only bad thing about mac is I have to take off one of the headers to remove the tranny.

My BBK's fit like a charm...I also just got the stainless steel ones. I don't really get the whole ceramic coated business. Probably doesnt make that much of a difference.

Jet Hot owns. I have them. What kind of problems have you seen? The whole purpose of Jet Hot is the redue the underhood temps Nate and I can tell it is quite a bit cooler with the coating than without.

All the cars I've seen lately with Jet Hot coated headers have had problems with the coating flaking or chipping. If that starts, even if a header is stainless, they can rust. Stainless Steel doesn't mean rust proof, just means rust resistant. Also, One thing I have found is a lot of times you will get charged for something you don't get. Jet Hot should be double coating all the headers, but most manufactures don't wanna pay for that, so they are just coated once. If you dont' have problems with the coating, then you are one of the few that I have seen/heard about. I know quite a few that have sent them back to Jet Hot.

And it costs about the same to order headers coated from Jet Hot, as it does to get the plain stainless ones coated, figure about $200.

Nate, it makes a HUGE difference. In my truck, by the time I got the truck shut off, hood opened, and reached under the hood i could usually touch the headers.

i like my mac headers and mine are 1 3/4 primaries and 3inch collector. drivers side goes in like a charm but the passenger side a little bit more of a bitch.

If you have a vented hood or one with a scoop and a CAI, I dont think the coating would be that big of a difference from those without it. Maybe I'm just a n00b lolz.

True. I've seen plenty of ceramic coated headers chip away. many BBK brand.

I'd advise to go with Stainless for sure. and if you wanna spend the big $$$ pay a company to coat them with something that will withstand the heat.

I always run the $150 Comp headers with good paint. they last a long time and I'm never pissed off and calling peeps bitching about their coatings.
