Need some numbers (fuel press, timing, TPS, etc).

Alright, I need some numbers to help me tune my car. I think Ron told me a long time ago what I should be running, but I couldn't write them down and of course forgot them.

Anyways, I think most people know what I have (just a simple H/C/I which I turned into the most complex h/c/i project ever). I put the Kirban FPR on it and it solved the problem of the car flooding out every time it is restarted. However, it still runs like crud, especially if I depress the throttle too much at once (detonation and loss of power).

Right now, I have fuel pressure at 32-33 psi vacuum off. Timing is around 10 deg I believe. No idea what the TPS voltage is, because I couldn't remember that one (.97 or something?) and it came attached to the new TB, so it probably does need adjustment. I'd like to at least double check these things, although my problem might be something different where I have to take my car to someone who actually knows what they are doing.

Also, does anyone know where a guy could find the hoses that run from that long metal thing to the heater core? I had to rig it up using some 90 deg bend hoses and a bunch of couplers, which sucks.

    Thanks.

I'm pretty sure you need a tune. They will do the timing and Fuel pressure for you to make sure you are not running lean or rich and you will get the most HP and Torque for the time and money you put into it.

      10-14* base timing.
      .95-.99 volts tps
39psi fuel pressure with vacuum off- this will vary from combo to combo

i got those molded hoses at the dealer, they aren't much and you can't go wrong with factory parts! at least if they're factory

Thanks for the numbers, I'll increase my fuel pressure and check the other two.

I stopped at Mills Ford in Baxter on Saturday and they said they can no longer order those molded hoses.

Most of my hoses are in pretty good shape, but whatever works.

Why does it have to be blue? Do they make that kit with black hoses by chance??

You should also check to make sure the TPS is working smoothly. I've had bad TPS's cause all sorts of annoying issues.

Just turn the car to "on" and make sure the voltage goes smoothly from .9X - about 5.0V without "hiccuping."

The next thing to check would be the IAC... unplug it and see if the car runs any better.

Someone will also have to tell me how to use my voltmeter. It has a dial with a bunch of settings that I have no clue what they mean or what they are for.

                IAC?

I tried all the parts stores in Brainerd besides car quest. Are you telling me they were the only one that carried that part? My luck owns.

don can answer your electro questions cause i have no clue. i just liked clicking through the settings and touching my skin to get a reading.

IAC is idle air control. it's that thing on the side of the tb that faces the front.

Oh, ok, I know what to call the thingy now. Outrun gave me a spare IAC a while back in case mine is bad. So if it runs better when I unplug it, it's bad then? I'll try that.
