    off road x-pipe

    2 easy questions.

    1. What are the pros and cons of running an off-road x-pipe? Outside of being illegal.(atleast I think that it is illegal)

    2. If I am not mistaken, 2 of my o2 sensors would be removed, but does my preditor programmer alllow me to fool the ECU into thinking that I still have the removed o2 sensors.

I hope that these are not to vague of questions.

more power, and yes its illegal to not have cats, but mn does ont test so i doubt you will have a problem.
not sure on the predator thing, i have a 5.0 before obd11

The pros are that it frees up the exhaust and saves about 25lbs. The car will be louder, and it will have better throttle response. The only "downside" is that you are spewing emissions.

As for the predator, you can program out those O2 sensors so they don't set a CEL. The rear 2 sensors are just there to make sure that the emissions equiptment is working and doesn't control the fuel mixture.

Sounds good. This is what I thought the answers would be but I wanted some other people's input. Now, the only problem I have is which off road x-pipe to get. Any suggestions that would work with stock headers and a cat-back exhaust? Will there be much of any difference between the brands other than mandrel bent or not?

You will still have your o2's, but you would either want to shut them off with the programer or get mil eliminators.

The main advantage to an xpipe is the scavenging effect. it allows a equal balance of exhaust pulses to occur.

On a 4.6 if you run say a bbk x pipe with flowmasters it is probably going to sound really tinny and raspy all throughout the rpm range. if you are going to run an xpipe i would go with a straight through muffler like magnaflow.

also, i would highly recommend a dr. gas xpipe because you build it to fit your car and plus the cross-over is closer to the collectors providing a quicker balance of the exhaust pulses.

          hope that helps a little.

I can build exhaust. 100% custom with mandurel bends. I can get pics if interested in some real exhaust.

You should really go with an H pipe. I think that the X pipe sounds too raspy, but thats just me. They say that the H pipe is better for torque down low while the X pipe will give you more horsepower up top. As for sound, the X pipe is supposed to me more raspy, where the H pipe gives more of a traditional muscle car sound, deep and throaty.

I personally had the BBk off-road x on my 02 with welded in magnaflow mufflers for about week but it just drove me nuts... i really didn't like the sound it had... like everyone is saying it is extremely raspy.... I still want to go x-pipe so i've been looking around and IMO i like the SLP x... not only does it actually look like an x but it is all stainless mandrel bends and its a three piece design so that you can upgrade to long tubes in the future without getting a new mid pipe to fit.... I'll be getting the SLP catted x soon i'll let you know how it sounds.... oh and if you're looking for some mufflers i have the 2 1/4 offset in and out magnaflow mufflers that i used for about 3 months before i went to bassani....

I wouldn't keep an H-pipe on my car if you paid me $500.00 so it's all a matter of preference. I would HIGHLY reccomend two things:

                      1) Make sure you hear plenty of sound clips, and if at all possible hear a similar combination in person.

                      2) I'm a huge fan of the prochamber X pipe. No interior resonance but it sure screams on the outside. Prochamber does an excellent job of projecting out the back; it's hands down what I would get if I were just getting a mid-pipe to combo a catback and stock headers.

I already have the same mufflers. Thanks anyways.

I assume that places locally sell these h and x pipes. Where could I go and get it? Oh, yea, I don't really care for the raspy sound so I guess a H-pipe might work better for me.

Listen to a 99+ with an H-pipe first.

Can you make a Ypipe for my turbokit?

I'd like to go with Vband connector from the 3.5" downpipe to ball end connectors that meet the 2.5" catback.

The laws where my kit is made wont allow this piece to be made by them

PM me if you can make one of those!
