I need input on a cam.

First off I know custom grind is the best I am not going to go that route...just so you know, lol.

Here is the scenario: 331 stroker with 8.5:1 compression ratio that will have a medium level street head (either afr 165 or edelbrock performer rpm, nothing with a runner longer than 170). cobra intake or equivilent.

Now, the tricky part. I want to run this motor na for until mid to late summer, when I can afford to S/C the whole setup. I want a mild cam that keeps decent idle and engine vacuum, but will also work good when I add the boost. If there is a cam that would work mediocre NA, and better with boost that would be ok too. I don't know much about ford cam setups and what works so I'm looking to learn what products work best for this kind of setup. Just from hear-say i was guessing the e303 cam. However, I would like a bit of input on other brands like tfs, etc.

:EDIT just thought of this so feel free to yay or nay it. I could put in a stock 5.0 cam until further down the road when I have the blower, then change cams (I would really perfer to put the engine in the car and leave the cam in though)
I know this isn't the best way to approach it and most of you will want to say change cams when get the blower, or don't build the motor until you have the blower. But my stang needs a new motor by spring and I'm on a budget. Thanks for the input. (sorry for long post lol)

do an F cam. Ed won't want to do a cam for you if you don't even know what heads you'll be using.

and if you're doing a blower, might as well keep it 302, you'll be able to make all the power the block can handle with a 302.

I did read the title. I was offering the link because ed knows a ton about cam's.

I would go TFS stage 1 , With a 331 it would idle great and is also a good choice for a boosted car down the road. Similar to an E cam but with a split lift and duration. Should also make a little more power NA than the E as it is a newer cam profile than the older E cam. $140 from Summitt or mabey someone has one sitting around for less.

That would be a waste of alot of motor.

low compression with a tiny cam 331? I imagine your car would be slooooowwww. Screw the blower. Just build a healthy 331. How much power do you want to make? What kind of ET?

I want a blown car, just because I have never had one. I would be happy at 370ish hp in the end. It's not a track car so I don't know what the ET would be.

I have converted to mass air.
