    MAC Pro Dumps

ok, on saturday night i heard Roast'em's stang for the first time and he had the 2.5 inch MAC Pro Dumps and i totally love that sound.

i guess the question that i am asking is, would i gain any cfm (HP) by switching to the pro dumps over my flowmasters?

also, if i do decide to pick up some pro dumps, should i get the 2.5 inch or 3 inch?

    thanks,
    Tim

    thanks for the compliments...

Honestly, I doubt you'd pick up any horsepower switching to them. and I always thought they sounded exactly like flowmasters but maybe it is a little more aggressive. More "in a can" sound if you know what I mean

3'' would be cool but it requires a new 3'' h pipe too

hmm, i was reading on mac's page and it claimed that the 3 inch dumps come with some kind of reducer to fit the 2 1/2 inch h pipes. i have to email them and find out.

      thanks for the help.

Im sure you would see a little increase in HP but nothing notacable, maybe lke 2-3 hp on a dyno if you could ever duplicate runs that close wich you probley couldnt lol, they do sound alot better imho, my friend had the 3 inch kit and its ALOT louder then the 2 1/2 inch one, Im pretty sure you right about the adapter, I dont think you will need a new h-pipe, im probley going with the 3 inch kit sometime in the next few months

yeah the macs have more cfm, flows are pretty restrictive. but i don't know how much you'd really benefit from it, probably in the area of what 93svt said.

hmm, that is a good point about sound being louder. do you actually think it would be worth it to buy the 3 inch for the extra $50 or what ever it costs?

if you want it to be louder then sure.
if you're talking for the performance, 50 bucks for 2 hp is not a good deal to me...

If you're planning on making some major power someday then the 3'' would probably make a huge difference. Right now though, it won't be much....

I don't know if I could tolerate something louder than the 2.5s. These suckers wake the dead!!

do you think the pro dumps will be louder then my 2 ch flowmasters with dumps?

I don't know, did they sound louder on saturday? They probably won't be too much different but a 3'' set up would.

hmm, i think my setup sounds a little louder then yours, but i think you are right in saying that if i were to step up to the 3 inch system then it would be louder. i still like how they sound though.

do they droan at 2500 rpm?

Yup. Well, they were when I switched from dumped 2 chambers to the 2 1/2" Pro Dumps on my car. Louder at all rpm's, but most noticeable in the midrange...

That was on my 92 5.0, shorty headers and offroad hpipe.

iv heard the 2.5 inch pro dumps and they sound about the same to me as most flows, im talking pure DB, the tone is much better imho they just artn all that much louder, now the 3 inch, those are pure bass, to me anywasy there is a night and day diffrense beetween the 2.5 and 3inch pro-dumps but that might just be me. If i were gona do it id go with the 3, just becasue its louder and i like my car to be loud, i have another car for blending in

I am running the Mac 2 1/2 inch pro dumps because of my panhard bar. I had two camber flowmasters before and I think the Mac's are not as loud as the flowmasters. I was really impressed by the sound and the fact that at cruising speeds on the highway that there was less drone then the flowmasters. In my opinion all you need is 2 1/2 inch.
