So when some fuel goes to engine the gas/ethanol mix brings the water with it and burns all three.
Otherwise, pure gas sits on top of water. Which can cause problems with "frozen fuel lines" and other things you've heard about but haven't experienced.
This is why I laugh at people pouring Heet or a similar product into their gas in this state. 0.3% of alcohol by volume isn't going to help reduce water in your gas since it's already 10% ethanol!

You're saying the "isopropel" (sp?) stuff is worthless? Having 10% ethanol in your gas prevents any condensation from getting in the fuel lines? And I heard some stations use ethanol some dont so much

Every gas station has 10% ethanol. The only pumps that don't are labeled "non-oxygenated"

This man speaks the truth. I find it funny that HEAT hasnt had to advertise for the last ~7 years because they have a huge customer base for something that is worthless now.

Diesel doesn't have ethanol and therefore would still have problems.
Water can still be an issue. But not nearly as much of an issue. Plus, if water seeps into an underground tank it can become a huge problem.
Also, the ethanol just helps prevent water from building up in tanks to the point where it becomes critcal. Obviously several gallons of water mixed with 10% ethanol gasoline would still be a problem.
Lastly, there are other causes of bad gas besides water content. Ethanol blended gas goes stale much quicker then full gasoline.
