    Sheared bolt removal help?

I know there's some sort of ratchet socket or something of the sort to remove a bolt with a sheared off head. Long story short, I was replacing my exhaust, and the head of one of the bolts that connects the mid-pipe to the cat sheared right off. So now I have about an inch of bolt sticking out of the cat that I can't get out easily. No leverage from underneath to use a vice grips, I tried (no lift to use to get it up high), and I don't have anything else to use. So, someone anyone have a tool or suggestions? The bolt is rusted to hell. Literally all the threads rusted off besides the ones that are actually holding it to the cat, which accounts for a total of about 4 threads. The other bolt came out no problem with an impact wrench.

Blah blah blah, I need to get exhaust on the winter beater this weekend since the honDUH is going into storage so... if anyone has ideas/suggestions/help it would be greatly appreciated. You can PM me, respond here, whatever.

Use a torch, the big red wrench. Heat it up, or cut it in half.

I did torch it, got it nice and red hot. Again, no leverage. Tried with a vice grips but it wouldn't budge. Breaking it off seems like a worse idea... then I'll have absolutely nothing to back it out with. At least with the nub I have a hope.

You can try an Easy-Out.... craftsman product (Sears).

It worked for me once, and another time the easyout snapped off.

Basically you drill a hole in the center of the bolt that was broken off, run the easy out into it, and keep cranking the easy out (left handed threads) until the bolt comes out or the easy out breaks.

          Enjoy.

mspaint is not functioning very well. Basically imagine two holes in a wall. You screw two bolts in. When unscrewing them, the first bolt comes out jsut fine. The second bolt comes out 3/4's and then the head snaps off. The rest of the bolt is still there, just the head is gone. That's basically what I'm up against. Except it's on the bottom side of the truck Meaning I have about 180degrees of motion max, and in reality about 90 degrees because there's shit all over the place on the bottom side like the frame

Can you weld a nut to the top of the busted stud?

Cut it off and then drill it out. Then use a bolt and nut when you put it back together.

well if the other end of that stud is not a bolt head more than likely its a splined stud and you would need to just pound it threw the hole. or again blow it out with a torch and use a nut/bolt they always work well and easily replaced later.
it's almost allstock! except the wheels.

Stop by Sears, Northern Tool, or Fleet Farm and pick up a set of bolt-outs.

                        Here's an example-
When we got to my place, I already had a candle burning. It was by "Glade", which I think you pronounce like the singer Sade, because it is an exotic candle that smells just like real pine.

Thanks for all the responses, been a while since I checked this. Blazer is currently at my place in shakopee, it was down at my dad's house. My uncle said he would take it in to work, he works for the gas company, and have one of the shop mechanic's do it. If that falls through for some reason, I'll let you know o.O Thanks for the responses.

I cant believe heat and a vice grip didnt work. I had to use this method on like 4 of my exhaust bolts on my beater.
