    Tremec is in!

all i can say is wow. the 3550 is much nicer then the crappy t-5. i have to wait a while and rack up some breakin miles, before i can actually see how nice the new clutch is. thanks again going to dan at db performance for doing an awesome job.

I know Synchromesh isn't cheap, but I would change the fluid before you get 1000 miles on it and change it religiously at 5000 mile if you are hard on trannys (like I am) I ripped my tremec down last week to replace the Blocker rings (like D&D recommended to solve my grindin 2nd gear) And I found my 1st and 2nd slider gear AND my second gear to be trashed! Thats $350 in parts. If I would have paid more attention to my fluids that prolly wouldn't of happen. But they seem to work soo much better after you change the fluid on them the first couple times.

Mine shifts pretty notchy, usually more so when it's cold.

tremecs are notchy trannys to begin with. i have heard that they get a little smoother after breakin. changing the fluids at the proper time is a big deal.

i am going to change the fluids in my tranny religiously. first one coming after 500-1000 miles, and then before i pull the car out of storage in the spring.

That sucks, only cost me $150 to fix my tranny... by replacing it.

does your rebuilt tranny come with a factory warranty?

PS: I understand the reasons for upgrading, I just don't have the bank or the availability. Warranties kick ass. I just don't like the maintenance of the Tremecs and Richmond has been apprehensive to make a 2.3 Compatible 5 speed avilable.

                  duck,
i totally understand where you are coming from. i just went out on a limb and spent some extra cash for a tranny and other components because my power level is rising so i thought that i should add some reliable drivetrain parts to hold up to the abuse. also, i also get that the 2.3 block wouldn't mate with a tremec so that is why you went with a different tranny. if i had the capabilities and time to build my own tranny, i would have done it.
not hatting on you duck. the junk yard is man's best friend. i have found many parts for my car there as well.

                  later,
