All I can say from my build Tim is maybe look at a stroker. I sure wish I woulda for the torque....
You can look up forged racing components or call one of the local supplyers for an estimate on a rotating assembly.
Boring, cleaning, and installing cam bearings on your block should be less than $500.
Problem is these damn blocks are inherently weak above 500 horse. If I do it over again I am buying an r302 or a dart block.
Then you are ready. If you get to wanting h/c/intake. give me a buzz. There is a very slight chance I might be selling a set of AFR165's, FTI cam, and ported cobra intake.
I should think you would spend somwhere between 3-5k depending on how cheap you can be. In my Engine rebuild class last year one kid built a 347 for around $3k but he bought alot of stuff off of Ebay. Another young child built a 306 using all forged internals and a set of ported stock heads for about $3800. I built my 355 for about 2700 using alot of ebay, but thas because Chevy's are just plain cheaper. maybe consider building a 351??? one of the other kids built a 351 for about $2500, but he didn't use forged pistons.
Confucious say: Panties not best thing on Earth, but close to it.
you can find good deals on corral all day long, you just have to call and talk to the people to see if they are legit... if your lucky you will find one with the surrounding states you can go check out.
just parts is gonna be above 2 unless you go with a forged crank. Definatley go stroker though as its very little more to do. If your serious let me know and I can get you hooked up with machine work possibly

Well after talking to you about plans you have, Id stick with a dart block or if you dont mind some extra fabrication go with a 351w block. I dont know what you want to spend but after hearing some of your plans Id definately look into different blocks. Alot have mentioned strokers but Id really take into consideration future plans, I did alot of research and crunched some numbers and I concluded that with a longer stroke and my turbo I wouldnt be creating much more torque if any to justify sacrificing the upsides of a shorter stroke. like said before I dont know your budget Tim, but definately take the time to sit down and make some decisions, Do calculations and come to some conclusions on your future plans. My theory is do it right the first time, BTW it gets very expensive, with what tony spent and stuff Ive purchased there is almost $10k invested just in this engine Im building.
Like everyone else said, do a stroker. 347 for that matter You can get a pretty decent rotating assembly for about a grand.
Jesse speaks the truth, and he has experience. Didn't steer me wrong in some advice. but I still wish I had built a stroker. Oh well. Now it is mopar time and the saleen runs so oh well for now.
