    OMG!!!! wtf????

Sorry, i needed a catchy title. Just wondering how much psi i should be running in my tires towing a trailer with a car.(will post pic in the AM). also how much psi in the trailer tires? Any percautions i should take seeing that i dont have a tranny cooler? van has 138k on it. just wondering if you guys have any input. i leave at 10am so the more info i can get the better.

thanks for all your help this past week.

    lots of love,
-Clay, Steve Irvin(van), & The Jolly Green Giant (trailer).

will have pic with the 7 soon. once the seven is on there, the van, trailor, hitch, and car will be called "The Situation"

Is that van even rated to tow all that weight?
I'd read the tires and go for that max pressure on the tires I think, for the van.

(Weight of trailer load + weight of trailer itself) / (max load stated on trailer tire sidewalls x 4) = percent of full capacity. That answer times the max psi listed on tire sidewalls is what you should run. Example below-

        Car weight= 4000 lbs
        Trailer weight 2000 lbs
Trailer tires capacity= 3000 lbs at 65 psi max load

        4000 lbs + 2000 lbs = 6000 total weight on trailer tires
3000 lbs times 4 trailer tires = 12000 max trailer tires load

6000 lbs divided by 12000 lbs = 50% of capacity

50% of 65 psi is 32.5 psi per tire needed.

I'm leaving out the fact that part of the trailer weight is actually transferred to your tow vehicle via tongue weight.

That being said-I leave mine at 45-50 psi at all times for my 7k lb trailer with 65 psi max tires.

All this is the same theory for your tow vehicle and actually any vehicle on the road. It annoys me to no end when oil change places and such fill people's tires to what's listed on the tire sidewall since what's listed is for max load, not actual load.
When we got to my place, I already had a candle burning. It was by "Glade", which I think you pronounce like the singer Sade, because it is an exotic candle that smells just like real pine.

The big deal about trailer tires is heat. More PSI reduces the tire flex and heat it generates. I run about 5 under max.

I hope the trailer brakes are adjusted for the load, otherwise the van is going to get pushed pretty good during a hard stop. Hell, the van brakes better be decent...................

the tranny DID NOT hold up. haha i got stranded in the middle of nowhere new mexico for 3.5 days. The tranny pan gasket started leakign anlong wiht the rear seal. im thinkning it was because of the altitude changes between nebraska to denver and then denver to new mexico. also i dont think the trailer helped too much. but im here safely, got in sunday ngiht and started work on tuesday. will post pics tommarrow hopefully.
