    great sadness

Is it bad when your DSM can out run your 5.0 Mustang......... ........ nothing makes sense.......right is wrong .....up is down......left is right.......Andy Dick is funny...............
Just threw the tires on tonight for the first time since the "5.0 build up". Cobra intake, 24lbs. injectors, Gt-40 heads, BBK longtubes, Pro-M meter, A9P computer, T-5, King Cobra Clutch......and the 16G EVO III destroyed it .. what the hell did I do wrong
Beer is proof god loves us and wants us to be happy.

you need it Tuned. That will help. Check your timing. Did it pull well throughout?

is it cobra Upper and lower with gt 40 heads? Im assuming so, just making sure.

Did you spin ALOT out of the hole?

Nothing... it has been the same story since the early to mid-90's. I sold a moded Mustang GT to get my first DSM in 1996. With just the free mods it would walk away from pretty much any moderate bolt-on 5.0 (IE my buddy's car in the day ). There is no doubt with the bigger turbo on it she is poised to much more damage. Hard to defeat boost with a NA car and that little CID.

I doubt you REALLY need a tune.
I have the a very similar combo that makes decent power and is fairly quick, but I dont have a tune.

                    Check your:
                    TPS voltage
                    Fuel pressure
                    Timing

                    What gears do have??

I agree with ya Mike. Me too!

what is he running for gear 3:73's, 4:10's? If he's just spining try a lower gear setup.
I got the same combo without heads and a broken t-loc and I still laid down a 13.80 @ 99mph. This summer, t-loc gets fixed, better gears, along with alluminum heads hope to see a mid to low 12 sec stang now.

I'm sorry to say, that aluminum heads and gears aren't going to get you 1-1.5 seconds.

I know. I'll be happy with a 12 sec all motor daily drive car though!

Like CaptCrunch said, that's about right.

A DSM with a 16g on it, with supporting mods like fuel and exhaust, should be mid 13s to mid 12s.

I'm not real good with the 5.0 mods, so I could be off, but with all that I'd only be expecting low 14s to mid 13s, on a track with nittos and good driver.

I've been on both sides of that race... back about 2001 my 16g'd 91 Eclipse used to surprise the hell out of 5.0 owners on the street. Didn't have much trouble until making the mistake of picking on cars with a cage or a visibly sumped fuel tank Didn't know any 5.0 owners at the time, so didn't compare mods (they were usually too pissed to stop and talk, especially the ones with cobra badges on the side).

With my 2000 GT running 12.8s with a small shot of spray, I was consistantly taken down on the street by a local 16G'd DSMer that would hang out at our little late-night races (Madison WI). Last I heard though, he'd picked up a Fox body for a project and was building it up

DSMs in the right hands are damn quick, there's no shame in a mildly built 5.0 losing to one. 13s seemed to be the normal range (for the non-poser crowd), with a little work putting them solidly in the 12s. When you start getting low 12s/high 11s, that's where the DSMs start thinning out pretty quick. There are some running high 10s/low 11s, but after about the mid 12 second point, it gets really expensive fast.

So in summary, add a blower to your 5.0 and you'll smoke it

Jeremy - former DSMer who wanted to play with torque and RWD
