Recommend a shop in Northern suburbs for Rear Axle work?

Anyone know of anyone in the northern suburbs to do good rear axle work on a '98 F-150 4x4?

My pinion bearing in my truck is shot I think and rather than wrenching on the daily driver, I think I have "other" projects that need to be finished.

Looking to drop off the truck tomorrow (Saturday) and it's NO hurry, but would need truck before winter.

Cheap is always good, but quality is Job #1.

A friend of mine does trannys and rearends. He does it out of his garage. I had him setup the 3.73s in my car (Gears, seals, and he cleaned it all up). My dad had the rearend done and the tranny rebuilt in our Chevelle when we were putting that together.

He has also done the trans. in my Caprice and the tranny in or '65 Biscayne when we were building that.

If you want, I can get you his # and PM it to you. He lives on Highway 61 and Highway 96, just a little north of all the dealerships.

Bad idea going to Don Winters. He installed gears in my buddys car and they howl like crazy. But I guess you get what you pay for. Danny at DB does great work for a decent price.

LMAO! You guys all assume that because someone is getting rear-end work done that they are getting new gears!!!

                That's fuggin' hilarious!!!

Dan's not even concerned with a Mustang! (or Cobra for that matter...) And he certianly isn't putting in new gears!!!

                      Does he pick up?
If so, what is the charge?

I should just call him. He's done work for me before.

Could prolly pull the rear drive shaft, but it in 4wd and drive it out to Dan@DB.

Tried that, wouldn't shift into 4, but then again, I only tried it for about 10 seconds.

Does the driveshaft need to be attached to put friction on the front transfer case?
