Got into a 90 5.0 Mustang but the headlamps are oxidized bad. What can be done?
How can I clean up oxidized headlights on a 5.0?

I don't have the part # handy but Permatex makes a product that is specifically designed for that. I think it might be a new part # but I'm not sure. If you want me to I can get you the permatex part # on Monday. Nick8.54 @ 159 mph on a 275 drag radial

Brasso brass polish, PlastiX, rubbing compound, etc all work pretty well.
However, the problem will come back in about 3 to 6 months.
It's not actually oxidation, it's crazing that causes them to yellow.
I was offering my tint customers a headlight restroration service. There wasn't very much interest in it from them (most of my customers are broke kids). However, the products came with a 2 year warranty against reyellowing.
I might have enough of my kit laying around to do a set if you're ever down this way.
Otherwise, call local detailing shops and ask if they offer headlight restroration.I'm Dark, I'm Dan...I'm Darkdan

Yep, that is what they look like. Man that is a diff. What causes it in the first place. This was a Cali car so I was thinking it had something to do with the sea?

the meguires clean plastic cleaner has worked great for me
also, if there is stuff on the inside i've tried "formula 420" which is available at most local head shops... seems to work wonders on things you can't reach the insides of to scrub.C43 ///AMG 4.3 V8+MP90+Intercooled+custom interior

Crazing happens from several different things.
UV damage, sand, salt, rocks, etc etc etc.
Buffing and stuff works temporarily, but it will come back. But it only takes 5 minutes every few months to make your headlights look better.
I'm still driving around with one good headlight and one super yellow one......LOL.I'm Dark, I'm Dan...I'm Darkdan
