Everyone with exhaust "dumps" in here please

I just took my tailpipes off and put turndowns on this weekend and was wondering who has gotten noise pollution tickets with these? The car sounds much more bada$$. It is a lot deeper and throatier down low but quieter at cruising speeds. Anyway, I know I am going to have trouble with the police in this town. I am running bbk shorty's, off road h, and american thunder cat-back. Thanks, Nick

just add long tubes/ bbk 1 5/8 long tubes/bbk shorty h/magnaflow mufflers/dumps/and no problems yet. and tranys come out fast when you dont have tailpipes!
it's almost allstock! except the wheels.

This thing sounds bada$$. I really like it but I really think I'm going to get a ticket, but you're right. I don't want to run tailpipes. I think the back of the car looks much cleaner without them and now I don't have to listen to them rattle after I go around the first corner and worry about the tips staying straight. I love it, it sounds like Ron's car minus the whistling, whirling, whooshing noises.

I have them and have had no problems with police. My car has 4.10s too so it's frequently in the 4-5k rpm range. I don't know if you heard it down on uni Friday night ( blue notchback) but my setup is almost exactly the same as yours...

What do you mean, I thought it was a stock shortblock with 150,000 miles with heads and intake. LOL

No I wasn't able to make it down there. I have 3.73's so mine is not quite as bad as yours.

i have dumps on my car and i have never had any problems with the police. it all depends on how you drive your car.

i used to run no tail pipes at all and that is just too loud. you can't even hear yourself think inside the car. imagine how loud the car would be if you had some alum cylinder heads.

              i like my dumps.

i have like the same setup you do with bbk shorties, offroad h, and 2 chamber flowmasters with turndowns, i got pulled over on the way home when i bought it in florida, that was in wisconsin though, the cop said it was too loud. but thats it so far, driven by lots of apple valley cops and no trouble...

I have 1-3/4 long tubes, off road H and flowmasters with dumps, never had a problem, as far as police goes im sure youd get a ticket just as easy with full legth pipes, full length or dumps your gona get a tiucket if you shit can it past a cop but at idal i dont think its gona bring anymore attn, to you. One thing thats sucks is the truns downs decrese your groud clearance, last week at brained i had a real problum with my tail pipes hitting the ground on really tight turns and they are up as high as they will go, im gona just have to take off a little bit of the turndown or slant cut it but i dont think youll have these problems nick as my car is much lower and I dont think you plan on carving corners anytime soon.

P.S. the best is tunnles and bridges with tall walls on the side :3gears:

Did I miss something? I do have aluminum cyl. heads. Are you running the American thunder setup?

Well, you are right there, considering I have my struts set pretty loose on the front. Plus, I like to go straight. The way I set mine up was I turned the "turndown" at about a 45 deg. angle. It did get pretty close to the rear axle but I don't think it's hitting.

Why do you think I take 394 to midway every time I go? I'll just have to be careful I guess, not too much cruising down at midway. I just don't want the hassle of any tickets.

well, when you install alum cylinder heads your exhaust note is going to get louder and tingier. yes i am running the american thunder catback.

Oh, I see what you mean. I wasn't sure if you knew I had aluminum heads or not. I've heard cars with the same setup as mine for exhaust but are much quieter. You can definitely feel a difference between the force the exhaust comes out the pipes last year and this year. It feels like it's got a lot more compression, even though it doesn't. Must be the cam.

I live 1/2 a block from the Coon Rapids Police Department and I never got picked up with mine. Their were plenty of times they'd pull out right behind me.

easy way not to let the cops notice you is to simply just not womp on it when the light goes green or at a stop sign, just slowly accelerate and it doesnt create as much noise as womping on it. Thats what i normally do and even with a cop next to me at a light he does nothing, but then again i dont have dumps but my car is still pritty loud when you womp on it.
